Pathology Report and the Impact of Irrigation on Dollar Spot - BALL-C

Date/Time:
Jan 9 2012 - 2:00pm

Due to the high temperatures we had in the summer of 2011, we had high disease pressure from our normal diseases like dollar spot, brown patch, and crown rot anthracnose. We also encountered more cases of diseases like bacterial wilt on creeping bentgrass as well as Pythium root dysfunction. The research report will update results on the following diseases: dollar spot, anthracnose, crown rot anthracnose. Also, results of our summer stress study will be discussed. On a related note, new research investigating the impact of irrigation on dollar spot will be shared. Preliminary findings will show that when and how you irrigate may matter more than you think with regards to turf disease. Additionally, the new user-friendly website www.msuturfdiseases.net, which profiles key turfgrass diseases and incorporates a virtual disease identification tool for turf disease problem diagnostics, will be introduced and showcased.
