This session will begin with a discussion of awareness and observation. The 6 common flaws in landscape lighting will then be identified. We’ll evaluate lighting designs and the importance of composition. Finally, all will be encouraged to photograph their work and to use and study these photos as a learning tool to improve future lighting projects.

We’ll review the concept of what atmosphere is, and why it should be part of your purpose/design intent. We’ll then discuss the process of defining a space and determining its atmosphere. Finally, we’ll address how lighting is a powerful tool for creating atmosphere, affecting mood, and evoking emotion.
