Paul Giordano

Paul is a PhD graduate student in the Department of Plant Pathology under the guidance of Dr. Joe Vargas. His current research endeavours involve the characterization of a new bacterial pathogen on creeping bentgrass.

Paul's Master's research involved understanding the mechanisms of lightweight rolling and dollar spot reduction on golf course putting greens. Paul has also worked extensively with the dollar spot pathogen, Sclerotinia homoeocarpa / Rutstroemia floccosum in the laboratory, researching infection mechanisms and cell wall degrading enzyme production.

Paul is a graduate of the 4 year turfgrass management program from Michigan State University. He has worked on several golf courses, both public and private, and thoroughly enjoys turf management as well as the game of golf.

Along with golf Paul enjoys playing and participating in many other competitive sports including soccer, basketball, tennis, and baseball/softball. Paul was born and raised in Westland, Michigan, and currently resides in East Lansing, MI.
